About Grow to Save

Hi my name is Luke and thanks for checking out my website, Grow To Save! My wife and I are currently in our early 30’s and in the beginning stages of raising our family in Southeast Michigan. As a husband and father, it is a passion of mine to provide great tasting and nutritious food for my family as we continue to grow.

Grow To Save Mission

One of the purposes of this blog is to showcase how growing your own food can save money on your family’s grocery bill by growing and preserving things you would otherwise buy.

But it’s more than just about saving money. It’s about saving ourselves, our families and our freedom. It’s about saving our planet through sustainable growing practices. It’s about the well being of our children’s children and beyond.

The Grow To Save mission is to change our perception and appreciation of agriculture, big and small, and to ensure our planet is healthy for future generations.

We also like to encourage the idea of growing extra food to donate to local food shelters and missions. Starvation is a real thing that affects adults and children in every country on earth, including the U.S.

Taste and health benefits

There’s an old cliche that says something like, “nothing tastes as good as when you grow it yourself.” I would argue that’s true. And besides that, when grown the right way, yields can be far more nutritious than store bought alternatives.

Everyone's Situation is Different

Depending on your living situation, long term growing may not be feasible. Or your situation may be changing in the foreseeable future.

Each person’s living situation is different and there will almost always be an initial investment that enables you to grow. Even if that investment is simply your own time.

As for us, we own a home with a backyard which is where the growing gets done. Since not everyone’s situation is the same, I plan to feature many ideas that can be applied to various situations.

Hopefully you can find value on this site and if you do, please don’t hesitate to share!
